Two Weeks Out From Your Disney Trip: What Have You Forgotten?

I obsess and plan. And I plan and obsess. Then I just throw up my hands and leave it to the universe that my trip will go without a hitch.

And the universe laughs.

Invariably, something is forgotten.

Stop the mail. Online check-in. Double-check a hard to get dining reservation.

It’s always something.

There is so much to do to plan the perfect Walt Disney World vacation. If you’re two weeks out from your magical trip make sure you review this last-minute “Do Not Forget” list before you go!

For Your Home
  1. Stop mail or alert the neighbors that you’ll be out of town so they can check in on things while you’re away.
  2. Water the plants.
  3. Set automatic thermostats to “vacation mode.”
  4. Activate timers of interior lights.
  5. Toss spoilable food from your frig.

For Your Suitcase
  1. Pack hard to replace items. Contact lenses. Prescription sunglasses. Medications. Your child’s favorite woobie. Anything that would be very difficult (or impossible if you count my son’s doggy) to replace once you get there.
  2. Phone, computer and tablet chargers. If you have a large group going, a multi-outlet adapter for everyone’s electronics.
  3. An extra memory card for your camera.

For Your Carry-On
  1. Magic Bands, special event tickets, and Disney travel documents.
  2. Entertainment (books, tablets, etc.) for the flight/drive.
  3. A swimsuit so you can go for a dip once you arrive at the resort.
For Your Car
  1. Travel mugs for the coffee you’ll need for the drive.
  2. Favorite DVDs and other travel entertainment for the kids.
  3. Kleenex, paper towels and a few grocery bags so you can clean out fast food trash at each stop.

And About Your Reservations
  1. Complete online check-in. It’s fast. It’s easy. And it DOES save time once you arrive.
  2. Keep checking for the hard to get dining reservation cancellation. Last trip we were able to snag a table at Be Our Guest, which had been completely booked when we made our reservations, 4 days before we left. Persistence pays off!
  3. Readjust any FastPasses that may have to be shifted because of a new dining schedule or park hour adjustments.
  4. And speaking of park hours, double-check and triple check the park hours. Disney is known to adjust park opening and closing times to accommodate the number of guests they anticipate each day. Check and re-check this information. We had a park opening of 9 am that moved from 9 am to 8 am and finally to 7 am just days before our trip.
  5. Finalize any deliveries to your resort: a package that you are sending yourself or a grocery delivery (like Garden Grocer) that needs to arrive when you do.
On Your Person
  1. Photo ID, wallet and special medical ID.
  2. Your favorite Disney t-shirt so everyone knows you’re going to your happy place.
  3. A big grin and your Mickey Ears.

Have A Magical Time!
