Cinderella Castel Fun Facts
- Over 200,000 LED lights are used each holiday season to transform the castle into a sparkling Christmas display. Energy-efficient, they run on the amount of energy it takes to run three clothes dryers. To see this spectacular transformation, click here.
- One of the most photographed structures in the world, Disney Imagineers employed a technique called forced perspective. The bricks get smaller and smaller as they reach the top of the castle, making it appear taller than its 189 feet.
- Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle is nearly twice the size of the Disneyland Castle.
- Originally intended as an apartment for Walt Disney himself, there is a place to stay inside the Magic Kingdom castle. In 2005, the space was updated to accommodate up to 6 guests. Unfortunately, you can’t book this private suite. It is reserved for charity events and promotional contests. But you can take a peek inside. Click here for some amazing pictures.
- You can eat in the castle, however. Character breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are available daily. Just make sure you have reservations. Cinderella’s Royal Table is one of the most popular meals on WDW property.
- Even if you don’t take time for a meal, be sure to walk through the castle. Under the archway, you’ll find five murals, created by artist Dorothea Redmond and famed mosaic artist Hanns-Joachim Scharff. Covered with a million pieces of glass, they tell the Cinderella story.
- There are 13 gargoyles hidden in the construction of the castle.
- Take a drink from the fountain behind the castle and look up. You’ll notice the crown from a mural magically appears on top of the head of the Cinderella statue.
