Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a must-do for any Disney fan. Believe it or not, I had to be convinced.
You see, Christmas is my favorite holiday – and favorite time to visit. So I always pushed for November-December visits.
But Halloween is one of my husband’s favorite holidays. And when he recommended we visit in October one year, how could I say no?
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a fun way to experience Magic Kingdom. The decorations. The special shows. The treats.
But it’s only offered for a short time each year and you don’t want to miss a thing. Here is your Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Bucket List.
First Off
- Plan your costume. Themed costumes for the whole family/group are especially fun. Just make sure to follow the costume guidelines.
- Get to the park as close to 4 pm as possible. Even though the party doesn’t officially start until 7 pm, MNSSHP ticket holders can enter as early as 4 pm.
Trick-Or-Treating
- Don’t forget your trick-or-treat bag. Or, you can just use the small bags given to you upon entry.
- Even if you don’t want to spend a lot of time grabbing free candy, trick-or-treat at the Monster’s Inc. for some unforgettable character interaction.
Photo-Ops
- Snag a picture with the Gravediggers at the Gazebo in Liberty Square
- Get a number of Magic Shots with your special Memory Maker One Day ($69) PhotoPass.
Riding the Rides
- Make sure you ride the Jungle Cruise before 7 pm. It’s typically closed during the party.
- Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad after dark is a must
- Ride Space Mountain once before 7 pm and once again after the party starts. It is a whole new experience in complete darkness – only for partygoers!
- Do not skip Haunted Mansion on this night of all nights!
- See real pirates on Pirates of the Caribbean.
Parades and Shows
- The Boo To You parade runs at 9:15 and 11:15. The second parade is typically less crowded.
- Not So Spooky (Fireworks) Spectacular is at 10:15
- Find the Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet appearing in Frontierland.
- Hocus Pocus Villian Spelltacular at the main stage. The midnight show is our favorite way to end the evening.
Food, food, food, and shop
- Make sure you eat a decent meal prior to the party begins as choices will be limited.
- Special treats are available for purchase only during the party. Try a few of these special treats: Frozen Apple Cider (Golden Oak Outpost), Constance’s For Better Or For Worse Wedding Cake (Liberty Square Popcorn Cart), Headless Horseman Cheesecake (Sleepy Hallow)
- If budget permits, try the add-on special Dessert Party for extra fun and treats and special viewing area for the fireworks display.
- Be on the lookout for special Halloween Party merchandise and pick your favorite souvenir.
