Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith debuted at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in July 1999. It’s a fast-paced coaster that will take you upside down, twisting and turning through the “streets” of Los Angeles, racing to get you to the concert on time.
Guests enter the lobby of G-Force Records, decorated with various music industry memorabilia. It just so happens that Aerosmith is recording and guests are invited into the studio to take a listen.
The band is just finishing up and their manager appears. Apparently, they are late for their next show. Steven Tyler feels bad that the visit has been cut short so he pleads with his manager to give all of the guests backstage passes AND get them to the show.
Doors open and guests are ushered into the back alley where stretch limos await. After boarding, the limos put the pedal to the metal and you scream off, from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds, hitting 4.5Gs at the first loop. It’s fast. It’s thrilling. And it’s one of the smoothest coasters you’ll ever ride.
Loud, dark and fast you can sing along to classic Aerosmith songs such as Sweet Emotion, Walk This Way, Back In The Saddle and Dude (Looks Like A Lady) as you ride. Each limo has its own theme song, so if you get a different car, you enjoy a different tune.
Once you exit the limo, you’ll walk the red carpet to a bank of video screens where you can view your ride photos.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is located at the end of Sunset Boulevard next to Tower of Terror. It’s a popular Hollywood Studios attraction, so secure a FastPass or go there first thing in the morning. During peak season, 2 hour wait times are not uncommon.
You also can not get a FastPass for Toy Story Mania and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. It’s either one or the other. I recommend getting your FastPass for Toy Story Mania and then heading straight to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Wait times first thing in the AM are practically non-existent. Even in the busiest time of year, you can ride a couple times in a row if you get there as soon as the park opens.
Guests must be 48 inches to ride. Because this ride is FAST, takes you upside down three times and is in the dark, teens love this ride. Younger kids? Not so much. You know your child best. We waited until our daughter was 10, after much pleading on her part, before she rode and we were convinced she was ready. This attraction is also not recommended if you have heart or back issues, if you are prone to motion sickness or if you are pregnant.
Ready to Rock ‘n’ Roll? See you at the limo!
