All Star Wars fans, rejoice! Walt Disney Company announced today that they will be breaking ground on the already announced Star Wars Land expansions, in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, sometime in 2016. The California and Florida based parks will be each receiving their own dedicated Star Wars themed spaces that will cover approximately 14 acres. This is great news for any Star Wars fan (my sons and husband, included!)
Chief Operating Officer, Tom Staggs said, “This will be I think perhaps the most immersive land we’ve ever built. We want people to feel like they’ve stepped into the world of Star Wars and so that’s really sparked our imaginations and it’s got people fired up.”
I can tell you, this Mouseterplanner family is stoked! Star Wars fans from way back (yes, I remember standing in line for hours waiting to see the first and original Star Wars movie back in 1977) and regular Star Wars weekend participants, we’ve been waiting for a more immersive Star Wars experience, which Disney has promised this new section of Hollywood Studios will deliver.
Meanwhile, we’ll just wait in anticipation for the next Star Wars movie installment, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens on December 18, 2015.
May the force be with you!
