If I could stay anywhere in Walt Disney World? Any one resort?
I’m sorry. I can’t pick just one. Even if money were no object, there is value in staying at, well, a Value resort. To be honest, as long as I’m at Walt Disney World, I’m a happy, happy girl. But there are many reasons to stay at the different price points. Read on to find what is best for you!
Value Resorts – All Star Music, All Star Sports, All Star Movies, Pop Century, Art of Animation, Campsites at Fort Wilderness Campground
Pros – The least expensive of all the options. Food courts available with extended hours. Bus service tends to be very efficient due to the large number of guests they serve. Limited number of suites are available with 540 square feet of space.
Cons – Because of their size and cost, Value resorts tend to house a lot of groups: tour groups, school trips, sports teams and cheerleaders performing at the ESPN Wide World of Sports venue. Square footage of each room is about 260 and the beds are doubles, rather than queen sized. Pools are well themed, but no water slides.
Moderate Resorts – Caribbean Beach, Coronado Springs, Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter, Cabins at Fort Wilderness Campground
Pros – Rooms are larger than the Values, at around 315 square feet. Queen sized beds. Pools have slides. There are often food courts and sit-down dining options.
Cons – Bus service is the only transportation option. Exterior room entry. Depending on the size of the resort, Moderates tend to be large and sprawling. Expect a little more walking and a larger number of bus stops per resort.
Deluxe Resorts – Contemporary Resort, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Old Key West, Saratoga Springs
Pros – Room sizes are among the largest, ranging from 340 square foot rooms to 940 square foot suites. Queen beds and quieter rooms. Interior room entry. Some of the best pool areas, complete with water slides. Sit down restaurants available. Varied transportation options that include: the monorail, boats, busses and even walking directly to a park. Bonus “viewing” options that can include: fireworks displays from Magic Kingdom or EPCOT, viewing animals on the “savanna.”
Cons – Most expensive of all the resort options. Buses are often shared with other resorts which makes for a longer commute to the parks.
