How To Make Your Disney Character Meet And Greet Memorable

Tips and Tricks for Great Character Interactions at Walt Disney World

Part of the complete Disney experience is a meet and greet with Mickey Mouse, or any of your other favorite characters. Walt Disney World has multiple opportunities to meet Buzz Lightyear or Winnie the Pooh or Cinderella. Read on for tips, tricks and favorite locations.

1. First, you need to know where to meet your favorite character. There are too many exact locations to list here and so many impromptu moments, as well. Click here for some sure-fire locations.

2. Bring a pen. A very large pen (or Sharpie.) It’s easier for the characters to grip.

3. Autograph books are great. But unconventional items are a fun alternative. A backpack. A cap or shirt. Or a photo mat that eventually showcases one of the character pictures you took.

4. If your child is a bit shy, have them meet a character with a “real” face, first. Aladdin. Snow White. Fairy Godmother. If all goes well, the other characters, with their more elaborate costuming, won’t seem so intimidating.

5. Check the Times Guide (you can pick one up as you enter the park) for the locations of the day.

6. A character meal is the easiest way to meet characters. You don’t wait in line and the characters come to you. Our family favorite is the Garden Grill character meal at EPCOT. Click here for a comprehensive listing, complete with current pricing.

7. Sure, the standard photo or autograph is the perfect souvenir. But quality interaction with a character will be a lasting memory. Don’t be afraid to ask a question or comment on their attire. Gaston loves to compare muscles. Ask Ariel if she has any new additions to her thingamabob collection. The conversations (or pantomimes) you have will be priceless.

8. Be considerate of the guests waiting behind you. Have your camera ready and your pen and autograph book open. Ask a question to get the conversation started and then be on your way.

9. FastPass+ now accommodates those wanting a guaranteed visit with their favorite character. Don’t forget to include these in your FastPass plans if meeting Mickey is a must!

10. Disney Visa cardholders get a free 5 x 7 photo at the EPCOT character Meet & Greet at Innovations West.

11. If your daughter has a princess dress of her own, don’t be afraid to let her wear it to the parks. Her attire is sure to create more meaningful interaction with her favorite princess and all the other characters she may meet.

12. Disney character meet and greets are not just for kids. Don’t be afraid to join in the fun!

  1. Thanks for sharing my interaction tips. Just want to let you know that the link to the Intercot information on Character meals isn’t correct. I have a correct list if you’d like to share that.
