Beginning March 31, 2014, Magic Bands will be available for purchase by Disney guests who are not staying on Disney property. The bands will cost $12.95 and will allow you to make your FastPass+ selections up to 30 days in advance of your trip. Currently, Disney resort guests are allowed FastPass+ planning access 60 days ahead of their trip.
Colors available are pink, green, red, blue, yellow, gray and orange. Decorating with pins or your own creative spin is optional!
The advantages to Magic Bands are huge. No more toting a card in a lanyard around your next. Or pulling paper FastPasses out of your wallet every time you ride an attraction. Connect directly to the My Disney Experience application and manage all of your dining and FastPass reservations from the convenience of your phone.
But the greatest advantage, in my opinion, is the ability to plan your trip ahead of time. Yes, you are limited to (3) FastPasses per day. Yes, this involves pre-planning and a little lack of spontaneity.
But for the night owls among us and the ability to sleep in, knowing that your time is reserved for Toy Story Mania or Expedition Everest or Dwarfs Mine Train, the newest attraction in Magic Kingdom?
Priceless!
They are making onsite more desirable all the time, I think that is the purpose. Parking prices going up, now paying for magic bands too. I think Disney is very smart about getting people to stay onsite!
Rumor has it, magic bands are reusable for future trips but I agree; Disney wants to make staying on-property attractive. I always recommend it, if you can at all afford to. We use a company, Magical Journeys (www.yourmagicaljourneys.com), and they have saved us thousands of dollars. I’m not exaggerating. Debbie always finds us a deal (our currently planned trip dropped $1100 from the time we originally booked.) Tell her Maureen sent you!
How much is a pass for magic kingdom for a day with the bracelet? And what sigh do I go to to purchase? And once I buy the pass adult and child how long is it good for? One more ? I have a grandchild with disabilities do I need a fast pass or can we just bypass the lines? Thank you for your help!
Thanks for stopping by! Here is the link to Disney for more magic band purchase information. (https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/plan/my-disney-experience/bands-cards/) Prices vary so it’s best to check the website. You can also purchase magic bands on the disneystore.com website and have them activated when you arrive. There IS an expiration for each ticket, 14 days after it is first activated. (The no-expiration option was discontinued about 10 years ago.) For a Disability Access Service pass, simply visit the Guest Relations Lobby at the front of each park. You will be given a DAS card to use at each attraction, typically you will be given an assigned time to return to the attraction to avoid long waits in line. Accommodations are made according to your grandchild’s unique circumstances. If you have any other question, feel free to ask! You can email me at mouseterplanner@gmail.com. Have a great trip and happy planning!
